We got behind on our blogging again. Mom and Dad have been so busy it just has to wait sometimes.

Hola Y'all!!

Todays' reminder will be another short one. Don, the injured cat, is keeping Mom and Dad VERY busy and they are constantly checking on him and giving him meds and stuff.
He is doing better and is not in quite so much pain but he is still in really bad condition. PLEASE say prayers for him and for little Mirri!
 

Mirri is doing GREAT!! She still has no vision bet she is 100% stronger and is jumping and playing!! She likes to be in the house in Moms lap but can't always be so she raises a ruckus when she has to be in the clinic room.

All us other furkids are just kicking back and being very patient while Mom has to spend so much time in the clinic. We know the other furkids need lots of help right now. We're a pretty understanding bunch of furbabies.

 
We had company last night!! Aunt Judy and Uncle Mike came up from Panama for a visit!! We really enjoyed having them with us.

And Mom talked to an old singin' buddy last night on the chat thingy!! Mom really enjoyed getting to chat with him. He recently lost his best friend. His Great Dane, Jake. Jake was only 6 years old.
Gerald used to take him EVERYWHERE!! His heart was broken when he lost him.

Gotta go. Time for Mom to do more meds for Don.

Aug. 28, 2012 Tuesday

It's  been another really busy mornin' here. Mom and Dad spend most of each mornin' working on Don Gato. He has to have a lot done to him several times a day. And Mirri has to get all her meds too so Mom and Dad are in the clinic a long time.

 
Mirri is doing great and is getting to be a really spoiled little girl. She is bouncing around like a puppy now!! She is eating REALLY good so we hope she is getting over her anemia. She's gettin' medicine for that and she has to have another blood test next week to see if it's better. What a cutie she is!!

We had a visit from Don Gatos owners last night!!!! They really really love this cat and they are extremely worried about him. They have told us to just let them know if we need ANYTHING like meds, food, or anything for him and they will be glad to get it for him!! It's such a relief to meet people who actually care about their animals.
They have a little dachshund and a yorkie too. They said that Don Gato and the Doxie are best friends and that the doxie is really missing his buddy.
They seem to be really nice people.

They told Mom that when he didn't come home they went looking for him. They found him all torn up like this and rushed him to the vet. None of them were actually capable of giving him the intensive care he has to have right now so they didn't feel like they had any choice but to have him put to sleep.
They are SO glad Mom was able to take him and care for him!!
Mom is just glad to know that he has been loved all his life and has had a great family. Thank God for good people!!!

Dr. Sharon came up again last night too. She is happy with how he is doing. She was here when the owners, Priscilla and her mom Ivonne were here and she got to tell them all about what was going on with Don Gato.
Priscilla speaks perfect english but her mom doesn't so it was nice that Dr. Sharon could explain to her.

Spanky is hanging out with us perros again. Mom says we're not allowed to tell him he's a cat. She said it might bruise his ego.

Aug. 29, 2012 Wednesday

 All us Lighthouse kids are just relaxing and keepin' out of Mom and Dads way. They are staying pretty busy with Mirri and Don Gato. We're all used to it and we know when there's an urgent kid in the house.

 
Mirri got to run around in the house with us for a few minutes yesterday. She sure is a cutie. And GUESS WHAT!!! She's gained 3/4 of a pound!! You can still feel all her little bones but not for long if she keeps eating the way she does!!!
 
Don Gato is doin' ok. He is still kinda in intensive care and gets subcutaneous fluids three or four times a day along with all his medication and working on the leg and stuff.
The biggest problem is he has not eaten since he got here. I'm sure he just hasn't felt like eating.
Mom, Dad and Dr. Sharon have all tried feeding him by hand and pushing food in his mouth to try to make him eat it.
He'd get a few nibbles that way but he still won't eat on his own.
Last night Mom used a 60cc syringe and loaded it with some really good prescription pet food for him. She put it in his mouth and he had to swallow. Then she did it again and again til she got almost a half a can into him!!
Mom kept checking on him throughout the night and he never threw it back up so that's a GOOD thing!!!
We're sure hoping it will get his stomach juices churning and he will develop an appetite. He REALLY needs to start eating and drinking on his own.
His owners came up again last night to visit him and bring some of the food Mom's using to feed him. They really love him.
Y'all please keep sayin' prayers for him ok?

 
We got a BUNCH of Dragon Fruit (Pitaya) off our cactus' this week. And there's a bunch more growing!! They are REALLY healthy for you!! Check 'em out on line!!

Aug. 30, 2012 Thursday

 Don Gato ATE SOME ON HIS OWN YESTERDAY!!!!!! WAGWAGWAGWAG!!!!

 
Mom was syringe feeding him some Science Diet A/D  and he started licking his lips. That is the FIRST food he has shown any interest in at all in 6 days!!!!
Mom stopped syringing and offered him some food on a flat dish and he ate some!! But only just a little. So Mom fed him more with the syringe. She got almost 3/4 of a can into him!!!!
His family came to see him again last night and his "Mama" fed him by hand and got him to eat quite a bit!!
This morning Mom saw that he had been up and moving around in his crate quite a bit and had EATEN SOME OF HIS FOOD IN THE CRATE!!!
That's another FIRST!!! So far he has only eaten when we had him out of his crate and we pushed him to eat.
He's also sitting up and grooming himself a little. YAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If he keeps improving like this maybe me and Mom can eventually get a full nights sleep!!
Keep the prayers going please!! They're sure helping!!!!!

Miss Mirri is doin' so good Mom is letting her come out of the clinic room for a couple hours a day to mix and mingle with us other Lighthouse kids!!
She has gained almost 3/4 of a pound and Mom says she still needs to gain about another pound 'cause we can still feel all her little bones. That shouldn't take long though 'cause her apatite is REAL good!!  Mom says if she keeps eating like she is it won't be long  before she has to go on a diet!!! WMFWB!! (waggin' my fuzzy white butt)
She is learning how to get around and she is REALLY smart!! She seems to figure out things really quick.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!
We need to help the Bahamas shelter win a weekly prize!! If they win a weekly prize then it will put us in line to win the international category!! It's a win-win for both our shelters!!!
Starting Monday, FOR ONE WEEK ONLY, we all need to vote for the Bahamas shelter!!
If they get the most votes that week then they will win $1,000.00!! Then we can start voting for Lighthouse again!!
Mom will remind you again so we don't forget!!!

Our reminder is late again today. Mom and Dad have so much to do in the mornings it makes us late getting to the computer! They're doing all the clinic kids stuff, cleaning the clinic and 4 to 6 loads of laundry each day!! And it all has to be hung out on the line if it's not raining!! It doesn't give them much free time!!

At night though, when ALL the work is done, Mom kisses all the other furkids, tells them how special they each are and snuggles them. Then me and Mom do the head snuggle thing on our pillow and Mom talks in my ear so I can hear her say "That's my BudBud. Mama loves her boy."
She's been saying that all my life before we go to sleep and I don't know if I could sleep without hearing it.

Don Gato is doing GREAT!! He actually got a up and walked around a little this morning!! And he seems a lot more comfortable so Mom is cutting back on his pain meds. He's eating pretty good and seems to be drinking some on his own now!!! WHOOOO HOOOO!!!!!
It looks like all the prayers and positive energy is working!!!
He has a little infection in one of his wounds but Mom is really concentrating on that spot and, hopefully, it will clear up.
Please keep saying those prayers and sending healing thoughts!!

 
Her Ladyship Mirri is bouncing around and demanding attention!! She's gonna be one VERY spoiled little girl by the time she is completely well. Please keep saying some prayers that she will regain some of her vision!!
Mom says she eats like a horse and she seems to feel REALLY good!!
So far she absolutely refuses to eat canned dog or cat food. She will eat dry puppy chow for snacks if she HAS to but she demands cooked chicken for her main meal.
Mom says it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a good picture of her 'cause she won't be still!!! AT ALL!!!

Aug. 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26

We've been REALLY busy with two new "special needs" furkids that have come in so we  haven't posted to our blog in a few days.
We're just gonna post the news from the last few days all on this one blog post.

Aug 22nd.

Little Kristy is doing good. 

She's up and around a little and seems to be getting a little more perky. She even barked at Mom last night when Mom went in, before bedtime, to give her smooches and hugs. Mom says she barked and wagged her tail like we do when we greet people!! And she wagged her tail this morning when Mom went in to love on her and give her some of her meds!!!!
She is able to hear but her hearing is not great. She is still able to see only shadow and light.
Poor little kid gets LOTS of meds every day all day.
So far all she will eat is the pureed chicken so Mom made some more last night.
Say some prayers and send some healing energy please that she will regain her vision as the infection clears in that one eye.



Mom and Dad took the other little dog to the vet yesterday. She has a HORRIBLY infected ear and both eye are infected. She also has some kind of skin problem.
Dr. Sharon gave her three prescriptions and did a skin scraping to find out what the issue is with the skin. She's a really really sweet little dog. Her owners were so glad Mom helped them. They family doesn't have a lot of money but the dad is a mechanic so Mom told him someday he can just work on the car for us.
She says in the states they call that "barter" and folks used to do that all the time!!
Right now she's getting some new covers made for our couch that rescue dogs have messed up. The lady who is making them asked Mom to help with her dog and Mom paid for all the vet stuff. So Mom went and bought material and stuff and the lady, who makes clothes and stuff, is making the covers for the couch cushions.
That "barter" thing sounds like a GREAT plan to me!!!!
I wonder if we could barter for something like steaks for us perros and gatos?? yuuuummmmmm!!!
Mom said not to hold my breath.
Dad got one side of the garage gate fixed. It slides really good now. He had Mom help him lift it and carry it to the sawhorses so he could weld it and Mom says it's HEAVY!!!!!! It's made out of heavy metal and Mom says it weighs a ton!! After moving it a couple of times she told him he could just wait until Bro got off from work to move it again.
He's got to do the other gate now.

Uncle Sean says Llutu is doing GREAT with her new sister!! They go for walks on leash and Poochie and Llutu LOVE it!! 

Clem seems to be doing fine here without Llutu. He plays with Milana and Mieko a lot and Delilah plays with him sometimes too. He stole Dads' socks yesterday and hid them. He took one out in the yard and Dad found it and told him he better go bring the other one back. I don't think he understood but he stood up on his hind legs and danced for Dad anyway!! wagwagwag!!!
Mom finally found the other sock in the view room where Clem hangs out a lot.
He didn't chew them up though so that's a GOOD thing!!
Mom told Dad it was not Clems' fault. Dog rules are "If it's on the floor it's MINE!!"

 

Mom's gotta go give Kristy some more medicine so we gotta go. Thanks for all the votes and PLEASE vote again today!!!

Mom took little Mirri (formerly called Kristy) to the vet yesterday to try to get a urine sample. Unfortunately she had just pee'd before she took her so her little bladder was empty. Mom took her to Aunt Kays and sat the and talked while she syringe fed Mirri water. After an hour she took her back to Dr. Sharon. Still no luck.
Mom came home and waited another hour then took her back down to the vet. Dr. Sharon squeezed her bladder forever trying to get a few drops. STILL no luck.
They finally put her down on the floor and she sniffed for a minute and then squatted!! Dr. Sharon shoved a cup under her and caught enough for the lab to test!! WHOOO HOOOO!!!!

She's doing better this morning and has gained some strength. When she hears Moms' voice she starts looking for her. She drops her head down and "feels" with the fur on top of her head to inch her way along until she locates Mom.
She can hear when Mom claps her hands and comes straight to her.

All us other perros are just kinda hangin' out and waiting til we get to meet little Mirri. We got to sniff her the other day while she was in Moms lap at the computer, but we haven't got to actually say hello to her yet.

Little Llutu is doing great in her new home. Her new dad, Sean, sends us emails each day to let us know how she's doing. She stole his sock the other night and slept with it on her pillow!!! wagwagwag!!!Thanks for all the prayers for Mirri. She's a cute little furkid and needs all the prayers she can get!! Mom says she's not out of the woods yet and still has a LOT of infection in her tiny body so please keep saying prayers and sending healing thoughts.

August 24th,

We got a new cat in yesterday and Mom is pretty busy dealing with that and the adorable little Mirri.

The cat was attacked by dogs and they ripped a lot of skin off of him. The owner did not have the time for all the work that needed doing and asked the vet to just euthanize the cat.

He's only 3 years old so the Dr. Sharon called Mom.

Mom's gonna try to help the cat get through this and then maybe Dr. Sharon can find him a home. Mom's gonna do a video of him but she's gonna put warnings on it so people don't watch unless they have really strong stomachs.

Mom says the injuries are pretty gross.

Say some prayers for him please and send healing energy.

I don't get it!! Why would dogs attack a cat? Our cats here at Lighthouse are our buddies!!

Little Mirri is doing GREAT!! She still can't see but she is gaining a lot of strength and greets Mom and Dad with her tail wagging!! She bounces when she barks!! She's eating really good and peeing and pooping normally!!! WHOOO HOOO!!!!

Mom's gonna do a new video of her too!!!

We'll try to include those videos tomorrow if Mom gets a chance to get them finished up.

Gotta go...Mom has to go try to doctor "Don Gato" (that's the cats name) and help him feel better.

August 25th 

 Little Mirri is doing SOOO good!! She's FULL of energy and spends most of her time barking for Mom to come be with her in the clinic room. She still can't see though. She's getting lots of medicine to help her eyes so please keep saying prayers for her ok?
Mom says it's almost impossible to get a picture of her 'cause she never stops moving unless she's being petted and loved on.
She's eating real good and has gained almost a half pound!!!
YAAAAYYYYYYYYY MIRRI!!!!!!

 

The new cat, Don, is still sedated pretty heavily for the pain. He is really sweet though and lets Mom and Dad change the bandage on his leg. Dr. Sharon is coming up today to see him. Mom says the color of his leg doesn't look good. She's worried he might lose it. Those dogs really tore him up bad, poor baby. Y'all say some prayers for hm too please.

Some of the cactus flowers bloomed late last night and they were still open this morning so Mom got pics!! Usually they're wilted and hangin' down by mornin' so this was a real treat!!
They're HUGE!!! And Beautiful!! Once the flower falls off the Dragon Fruit will be born!!

Mom's gotta go give more medicine to the clinic kids so we gotta go.

Aug. 26th

 Don, the cat, is doing a little better but he keeps dehydrating. He was on fluids most of yesterday and into the night. This morning he is dry again. Mom has texted the vet so hopefully we'll hear from her in a little while. 

Little Mirri is doing just fine. Her urine test showed she does have a urinary tract infection so she is now on antibiotics for that along with all the medication for her eyes and the supplements she is on to help her regain her strength. She sure is a sweetie and she's getting lots of love from Mom and Dad.

Here's another pic of the cactus flowers (Dragon Fruit Blossoms) that we took yesterday. And a pic of some of the Dragon Fruit Mom picked off the cactus yesterday. We've got a BUNCH growing this year!! 

Gotta go. Mom's gotta go give meds to Mirri and Don.

Buenos Dias Y'all!!!

 
The little poodle is now with us. We're calling her Kristy!! The wonderful people who rescued her brought her to us last night after they returned from the vet.
She seems to be doing well under the circumstances. As we said yesterday her left eye muscle has been injured and is not controlling the eye. Her right eye is ulcerated and swollen. Both eyes are infected. She can see some shadow and light so Mom is hoping the vision will return to the right eye once the infection and ulcer is cleared up.
She seems to be able to hear pretty well.
She is extremely skinny and is pretty weak although she is able to walk around a little and is eating, drinking, peeing and she finally pooped this morning. YAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
Mom says getting rid of those curled under toenails has helped her to be able to walk a little better but she still has some trouble. We're not sure if it's due to injuries, weakness, or maybe being on those long toenails for so long.
She is a teeny tiny little thing. Even smaller than Milana!!! She weighs 4 pounds right now and Mom says she probably should weigh 6. You can feel all her bones.
Mom said if she didn't have long fur she would look like Tommy did when we brought him here.
We're sending some pics Mom took last night.
Mom gave her some food (pureed chicken) that the people brought for her and she ate that last night. Mom is going to try to get her to start eating some puppy food to put some weight on her.
She's on LOTS of medication for her eyes and for her anemia.
Once we have had her on that for a week we have to take her back for another blood test to see if her anemia is better.
Y'all say some BIG prayers and send some strong healing energy for her please!!! 

We didn't have internet last night or earlier this morning because we had a BAD lightning storm yesterday and it struck the tower that our internet comes from. Mom and all us furkids just piled into bed and watched tv.

Dad is working on the garage gate. It's rusted out pretty bad at the bottom so it has to be repaired or replaced. Dad's gonna try to repair it first cause it costs too much to replace it.

HAPPY SUNDAY FOLKS!!!

 

It's been a busy mornin' here at Lighthouse. We've had two emergency cases come in.  One was a little street dog some people had taken in. She has a TERRIBLY infected eye and ear. She also has some sort of skin problem that's making her itch a lot.
Mom gave them some Benadryl (for the itching) and they're bringing her back Tuesday for Mom to take her to the vet.

Then some people found a tiny little 4 pound poodle in the middle of Highway #1!!!! That's about the busiest road in Costa Rica!!!
She was just standing there in the middle of the road and not moving. Cars were whizzing around her but thankfully not hitting her.
Our friends stopped and grabbed her up and brought her to Mom.
She is in pretty bad shape. She's really depressed and sad. Her right eye is badly infected and her left eye is infected AND is not going in the right direction. It looks down when her other eye looks another way.
Right now she is blind but Mom thinks maybe if they get the infection in the right eye cleared up she may regain sight in it.
Mom says she does not know why the left eye looks so strange. She says maybe the dog got a head injury. That eye might have to be removed.
Mom cleaned up the eyes real good, cut some of the hair away from them and put warm, wet compresses on them. The little dog seemed to like that.
She had REALLY REALLY long toenails so Mom cut those. She also had "stuff" in between the pads in her feet. She was in an area where they were working on the road so they think it might have been tar.
The people are taking her to the vet tomorrow so we should know more then.
Y'all say some prayers for those two furkids please!
We've had probably a million house cleaners here this morning!!! REALLY!!!
The house cleaning ants were here and all us perros had to stay outside until they were done!! Mom said they might tote us off if we got in the way!!
Mom and Dad just stay out of their way and let them clean. They  just sweep through and clean up all the little tiny bits and pieces you miss when you sweep and mop. Once they're done, they leave and go to the next house!! Is that neat or WHAT???
They don't get up on anything. They just concentrate on the floor and clean it all up.
We've got some pretty neat creatures here in Costa Rica.

Llutu went home with a friend of ours yesterday!!! He wants to adopt her but Mom says he should take her for just a few days to see if it works out. He has a big dog named Poochie. (We baby sit for her when he's out of town)
Poochie is a SWEETIE but we don't know how well she'll accept another dog in HER house.
They did fine out here in our front yard together so hopefully all will go well.
Mom told him that Llutu and Clem are pretty good buddies but if they seem to do ok apart then he can adopt her.
So far Clem seems to be doing fine. We're waiting to hear how Llutu is doing.

Maggie and Emma are here for a visit. Their folks had to have their house exterminated so the dogs had to come up here for a day or two. The house has termites. Mom says termites eat wood. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristina and Michelle, Kristinas sister, are done with their volunteer work and we sure are gonna miss them!! They are GREAT young ladies!! Their Mama and Daddy did a good job raising them!!! And they're PRETTY too!!!

 

Our reminder is late today cause Mom has been busy watching Merlon and Dad cut a dead tree. Her job is to stand there and wring her hands, worry and say "OH!! OH!!! BE CAREFUL!!? Mom says the way they do things here is a little nerve wracking.

It hangs over our fence and if it fell it could take the fence and possibly the gate down with it.

HOLA Y"ALL!!!!

Kristina and her sister will be here today. It's their last day of volunteer work and we're all gonna miss 'em like CRAZY!!!

Our Juliette is becoming incontinent. She wears a diaper in bed, just like Joy and me...but the diapers don't fit very tight around the legs and if she's laying down it kind of leaks out the side of her diaper and onto the bed. Mom has a rubber sheet on the bed, to protect the mattress, but she still has been having to change the rest of the bedding every day and launder it. Mom says we have to figure out a way to make the diapers fit better so maybe she and the girls will work on that today.

Y'all say some prayers and send positive energy for our Juliette please.

We have several senior dogs right now and it worries Mom a lot so say a few prayers for Mom too ok?

Andres tail, where he got the bug bite, is better. He doesn't seem to be so itchy and the raw place he had chewed on it is healing up real good. Don't tell him I said so but he looks kinda funny with that bandage on his tail.

We're attaching another "CAT DRAMA CLASS" pic for you that Mom found on the internet. Cats are SOOOO goofy!! Ours aren't all that dramatic. Mostly they just lay around and snooze!!!

We're still looking through old videos and Mom thought you  might enjoy this one of when our little Sophia first came to us. She's a real trooper and she never let her handicap slow her down. Today she is an absolute scamp!! She runs, jumps and climbs just like any other cat and she loves to terrorize the others. What a sweetie this one is.

 HOLA Y'ALL!!!!!

Kristina is coming again today and she and Mom might clean out the clinic so we gotta make this a short reminder.

Yesterday I got MY bath. Mom did it 'cause she knows I get pretty weak when I have to be handled a lot. I'm nice and clean now though so I shouldn't need another bath for a while. I don't do much to get dirty anymore. I just correct the other dogs when they need it and stick close to Mom. Those are my jobs.

Ol' Spanky is still hangin' around with us perros. Sophia comes in here once in a while but not as much as Spanky. Lucy, the one eyed kitty, Larry with hip dysplasia and Blade with her split personality all like it better out front.
They love me though and when I go out to help Mom hang out clothes they all come over and love on me.
They're all pretty good friends....for cats.

Mom did a video the other day of a toucan in our tree. You can hear his "sound" in the video. Then she got video of the valley full of clouds. Maybe you folks will enjoy it.

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

Lots of people are complimenting me on my calendar!! Some of them even called me a HUNK!!!!!! (blush) Thanks!!! We're glad you like it!!
Mom says we get $2.00 for each one we well and she says that money will be all mine!! I think maybe I'll buy treats for all my brothers and sisters!! HECK!! I might even buy Mom and Dad an ice cream!! (They always share with me so that would be a win-win situation!!)

It's my own, personal, JUST ME calendar!!! I'm so proud!!!

We had toucans in the trees again yesterday. We hear them all the time but we hadn't seen one for a while. Mom made a video and we'll download it and post it to Youtube so you folks can see it tomorrow!!
Mom says their sound is kinda like a tree frog. You can hear it on Moms video.
And the valley was full of clouds yesterday afternoon too. It was SOOO pretty. It looks like a big ol' soft white bed!!! That's gonna be on the video too!!!

Mom got to talk to an old friend she hasn't heard from in a long time!! She and Ronita used to be what Mom calls "Runnin' Buddies."
They had lost touch for a while but finally found each other on-line and yesterday Mom got to talk to her on Skype!!! She says she's comin' to see us someday!! We can't wait!! Mom says Aunt Ronita will give us tummy rubs and smooches.
She has a dog named Daisy and she REALLY REALLY loves her.

Our volunteer, Kristina, is coming again today!! That means I'll get my bath and so will Andre. Maybe even Laika!! Laika has to get washed with the water hose cause she is too heavy for Mom to pick up and put in the sink.
Mom says maybe they'll take everything out of the clinic and give it a good scrubbing.
That's a lot of work and Mom says it takes special people to want to help with a job that big!!

 HOLA Y'ALL!!!!

Yesterday was a GREAT day!! We all just kinda kicked back and relaxed and Mom got lots of work done. We found a dead "leaf bug" out on the porch!! Those things are really unique!!

Mom's wonderin' now how many she has stepped on and killed by accident. 

They look JUST LIKE A LEAF!!

Me and Juliette got to go to Aunt Kays restaurant the other day. (We get bites of bacon when we go there!!)

It was stormy so we wore our comfort shirts.

Now that I'm gettin' older I get nervous sometimes when we go places. Especially if it's noisy. 

My ears aren't so good anymore and noises get all tangled up in my head and it makes me a little scared. When we're at home I'm pretty comfortable. I hear all the other furkids bark sometimes when they go running out chasing a bird or something but most of the time it's pretty quiet.

Mom knows to pick me up and talk real close to my ear. That's how she sings to me and that makes me feel real good.

And at night, when we're about to go to sleep, she gets close to my ear and says, "That's my BudBud. Mama loves her boy." Then we do our "head snuggle" thing, rubbing our foreheads together.

That's my signal that it's ok to go to sleep and rest from bein' the boss dog.

In the mornings Mom gets up at about 5:00 and takes the diapers off Juliette and Joy (Me and Juliette and Joy are on heart meds and diuretics so we have to wear diapers at night) and she lets everybody out. Then she and I go back to sleep for a couple of hours. That's our major snuggle time.

It's quiet today!! Aunt June and Uncle Jim are gone back to the states and our volunteer, Kristina, is off on a Costa Rica adventure!! All us furkids are just kickin' back and restin' here around Moms desk. 

Mom's plannin' to start putting together a new calendar for 2013. She's thinking about doing just a sunset calendar of some of our great sunsets. Maybe one WITH dogs and one without!! We'll let you know when they're done so you can order one of you want to!!

And GUESS WHAT!!! She said she might do one JUST FOR ME!! She says I deserve my own calendar. Ain't that somethin'!! Imagine ME bein' the star of my OWN CALENDAR!! WAGWAGWAG!!!!! 

Mom went to the Mothers Day dinner last night and had a really good time!! They served the moms dinner and the moms played games. She says it was really fun!! She says these ladies really play to win!! She won a matching potholder and hot glove!!! 

FIrst they had to dance with a balloon between their heads.

Then they tied a balloon to their foot and they had to try to pop each others balloons!!

Be sure to put out some water for thirsty fur/feather kids please and DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!

HOLA Y'ALL!!!

Our Kristina is back again today!! She's a FANTASTIC volunteer!! All us furkids are crazy about her!! She gets here about 8:30 in the morning and goes right to work!! She even cleans up the mess after she gives us baths and drys us and stuff!! Mom says that's a HUGE plus!! She and her sister are going to see Arenal Volcano this weekend and then she'll be back with us on Monday!!

Aunt June and Uncle Jim are finally back in the states. Their flight was delayed and they didn't make it home til the early hours of the morning. But the airline "compensated" them of course. They could get all the peanuts and pretzels they wanted!! Some compensation for a 10-12 hour delay huh?
Mom says the airlines don't have any integrity anymore. She says it used to be that the airlines actually CARED about their clients but now it's just another dollar and "too bad if the customers get mistreated and inconvenienced."

Today they're celebrating Mothers Day here in our village. Costa Rica Mothers Day is on the 15th but our community is having their celebration early. The kids in the village brought Mom and invitation. They're cooking a big dinner and all the kids are going to serve the Moms up at the school or the church.
We've got some REALLY sweet kids here in our village.

We found this old picture of Mom and one of her rescues. She says ALL animals need help now and then. Not just dogs and cats. That's why she says it's important to leave some water out for the strays and the wildlife. In the heatwave water is in short supply and ALL animals need water to survive. So thank you to ALL of you who are helping that way. 

Mom says if you do just ONE THING you've done more than most!! And she says it makes you FEEL good to DO something good!!
