Subject: please help

Recently, four members of my family died. They left behind two older boxers. I am desperately trying to find a home for them. They are currently in the care of the Southwest Animal Clinic, but I cannot afford to keep them there. I live in New York City, and can't bring them here. We have called all the local boxer rescue organizations and they are all full. I am flying down to Houston tomorrow (12/29) to pack up my family's home, and try to find a home for these dogs (Jake and Bella). I do not want them to be killed, but I am finding few options.I pray you can take them. Please email or phone. H 212-567-0710C 917-282-7536Jennifer Hoult

The Christmas Ladder

by: David C. Fantone

A CHRISTMAS TREE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. CERTAIN RELIGIONS DON'T RECOGNIZE THE
BEAUTY AND SYMBOLIC MEANING OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE. SOME CAT OWNERS DO,BUT HAVE TO STIFFLE THEIR PASSION FOR SAID TREE. I HAD ALWAYS GROWN UP AROUND THE FULL-BLOWN CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS - TREE, TURKEY, PRESENTS, AND THE LIKE. BUT I KNEW THAT THIS WOULD ALL CHANGE, ONCE ON MY OWN.

IT WAS THE FIRST YEAR THAT I WAS TO SPEND CHRISTMAS ALONE. I HAD MOVE AWAY FROM MY PARENTS AND WAS IN THE BIG WORLD ALL BY MYSELF. BUT I WASN'T REALLY ALL BY MYSELF. I HAD ADOPTED A FEW FRIENDS TO SHARE MY NEW HOME WITH.

OVER THE PAST YEAR, I HAD RESCUED SEVERAL CATS FROM THE LOCAL SHELTER AND FROM THE ROAD WAY. IT SEEMED THAT ONE KITTY JUST WANDERED UP AND INTO MY LIFE FROM OUT OF NOWHERE. I HAD THE ROOM, AND THE FINANCES, AND THE LOVE IN MY HEART TO MAINTAIN THIS LITTLE MENAGERIE. SO ALL WAS O.K. WITH ME AND IT SEEMED LIKE, ALL WAS O.K WITH THE RESIDENTS. EVERYONE GOT ALONG JUST SPLENDIDLY. WHICH SURPRISED ME,
AFTER READING DIFFERENT ARTICLES, IN DIFFERENT MAGAZINES ABOUT " INTRODUCING A NEW CAT TO AN EXISTING GROUP."

IN ONE OF THOSE MAGAZINES THAT I WAS NOW A SUBSCRIBER TO, I HAD READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT CATS AND CHRISTMAS TREES. I WAS AMAZED AT ALL THE DANGERS THAT A CAT COULD FALL VICTIM TO DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. THE CHRISTMAS TREE. WAS ONE OF THE ITEMS THAT PROVIDED THE MOST HAZARD TO MY KITTIES AND CATS. "SO,THIS YEAR THERE WILL BE NO TREE" I SAID TO MYSELF. " NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WANTED ONE OR WOULD MISS ONE, I WOULD NOT PUT ANYONE IN JEOPARDY".

IT WAS DECEMBER 23 AND IT JUST DIDN'T FEEL LIKE CHRISTMAS. NO TREE? HOW COULD IT BE CHRISTMAS? THERE WERE PRESENTS IN THE CORNER, AND MOM SENT A MIXED BATCH OF HER FAMOUS CHRISTMAS COOKIES. BUT WITH OUT A TREE, IT JUST WASN'T CHRISTMAS. I SAT WITH MY ADOPTED FAMILY OF CATS WATCHING THE T.V., WITH ALL IT WONDERFUL COMMERCIALS WITH BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS TREES IN THEM. I WAS THINKING TO MYSELF " AT LEAST NO ONE WILL GET HURT FROM ANY BROKEN ORNAMENTS, OR CHOKE ON ANY ICICLES."
BUT STILL I MISSED THE TRADITION, BEAUTY, AND THE EFFECT OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE.

I DIDN'T WANT THIS TO JUST PASS BY WITHOUT TRYING TO FIND SOME KIND OF SOLUTION. IT HIT ME ALL AT ONCE. I'LL MAKE A CAT SAFE CHRISTMAS TREE. THAT'S IT. I'LL DO IT MY SELF.
I'LL JUST THINK A WHILE AND I'LL COME UP WITH SOMETHING. AND IT DID COME TO ME. I'LL TAKE MY SIX FOOT LADDER AND PAINT IT GREEN. THAT WILL BE MY TREE. THEN A FEW APPLES AND ORANGES WILL BE THE LIGHTS, A COUPLE OF POPCORN GARLANDS AND A LOT OF COLORFUL STICKERS WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF THE ORNAMENTS.

BY DECEMBER 24TH THE PAINT ON THE LADDER WAS ALL DRY AND THE TREE WAS TRIMMED. I PUT THE PRESENTS SENT FROM HOME UNDER IT AND I WAS HAPPY. THE CATS WERE VERY INQUISITIVE ABOUT THE NEW AND COLORFUL STRUCTURE THAT WAS ERECTED IN THE CORNER OF THE LIVING ROOM. THEY LOOKED AND LOOKED AND, WHEN THEY GOT BRAVE ENOUGH, THEY SNIFFED AND SNIFFED, AND THEY SNIFFED SOME MORE. AFTER A WHILE, EVERYONE WAS BACK ON THE COUCH WATCHING T.V. TO THEM IT WAS NO BIG DEAL.
EVERYONE HAD THEIR TIME EXPLORING AND THEN IT WAS JUST ACCEPTED AS ANOTHER PIECE OF THE FURNITURE. BUT TO ME, IT WAS MY FIRST CHRISTMAS TREE AND A CAT SAFE ONE TOO. IT HELPED WITH THE FEELING OF LONELINESS AND THE LACK OF REAL FAMILY.

I SAT THERE HOLDING ONE CAT AND RUBBING ANOTHER. I HAD ONE BEHIND MY HEAD ON THE BACK OF THE COUCH AND ONE IN MY LAP. BUT STILL THE FEELING OF BEING ALONE CAME OVER ME. I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD NEVER BECOME HOMESICK, BUT IN FINAL ANALYSIS, I WAS. THE NEWLY-MADE TREE HELPED, BUT IT ALSO HINDERED. IT WAS CHRISTMAS EVE AND I WAS WISHING IT WAS ALL OVER.

SLEEP COULD BE THE SOLUTION TO THIS DILEMMA. YES, IT WAS EITHER GO TO BED AND
SLEEP OR STAY UP AND BROOD OVER THE FACT THAT I WAS ALONE. BESIDE, IT WAS GETTING LATE AND SANTA WAS COMING. THE WHOLE TIME I WAS LAYING THERE TRYING TO SLEEP, ALL THAT I COULD THINK OF WAS WAKING UP, ALONE. THERE WOULD BE NO BROTHERS AND SISTERS, NO MOTHER AND FATHER, NO PRESENTS, NO TURKEY. " WOE IS ME" I THOUGHT.
TOSSING AND TURNING, SLEEP WOULD NOT COME TO ME. FIFTEEN MINUTES PASSED, THEN A HALF AN HOUR DRAGGED ON. LOOKING AT THE CLOCK THIS TIME, I COULD SEE THAT IT WAS FIFTY FIVE MINUTES SINCE I HAD LAID DOWN. THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY, NOT JUST TONIGHT, BUT TOMORROW, WHAT WILL THAT BRING? THEN IN THE SILENCE OF THE NIGHT I HEARD SOMETHING. "MEOW," A STRANGE MEOW. I KNEW THE VOICES OF ALL MY CATS AND THIS WAS NOT ONLY A STRANGE VOICE BUT IT SOUNDED DIFFERENT, IN DISTRESS. IT WENT ON A COUPLE OF MORE TIMES AND NOW I COULD TELL THAT IT WAS COMING FROM OUTSIDE.

THIS WAS A GOOD REASON TO ESCAPE FROM THE DARK ROOM THAT WOULD NOT LET ME SLEEP. I RACED DOWN THE STAIRS TO THE FRONT DOOR. LOOKING OUT, I COULD SEE THE GOLDEN REFLECTIONS OF A PAIR OF EYES STARING BACK AT ME FROM UNDER THE
NEIGHBORS CAR. I KNEW THAT THEY HAD NO PETS, SO IT WASN'T THEIRS. I SLOWLY MOVED FROM THE THRESHOLD TO THE FIRST STEP. "HEAR, KITTY, KITTY" I CALLED. TO MY SURPRISE THE CAT CAME RUNNING TO ME.

SHE HAD TINY DROPLETS OF FROZEN WATER ON HER WHISKERS AND HER BODY TEMPERATURE WAS DROPPING TO A DANGEROUS LEVEL. IT WAS ALL THAT I COULD DO TO KEEP FROM BREAKING INTO TEARS. A QUICK INTRODUCTION AND WE WERE BACK IN THE HOUSE. ALL THE OTHER CATS WATCHED ME AND A STRANGE CAT WHIZZING PAST. TO MY SURPRISE, EVERYONE WAITED QUIETLY IN THE OTHER ROOM.

AFTER A WARM BOWL OF MILK AND A DISH OF HOLIDAY FARE, A QUICK INSPECTION WAS IN ORDER. TO MAKE IT EASIER ON HER, I HELD HER IN MY ARMS AND LOOKED HERE AND THERE.
" NO EARMITES, NO SIGN OF TAPE WORMS, AND NO CUTS. GOOD. BUT WHAT A BELLY. YOU’RE A BIG KITTY AREN'T YOU?" I WAS REALLY HESITANT ABOUT BRINGING A NEW CAT IN TO THE FOLD WITH OUT A COMPLETE AND PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION. WHAT WAS WORSE, THERE WAS NO WAY TO QUARANTINE HER. I JUST HAD TO TAKE MY CHANCES AND HOPE THAT SHE WAS FREE OF ANY FELINE DISEASE. I THEN PUT HER DOWN AND SET HER FREE TO EXPLORE. IT WASN'T LONG UNTIL SHE HAD FOUND EVERY CORNER OF THE SMALL AREA THAT I CALLED HOME. SHE ALSO SEEMED TO GO TO EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE AND ALLOWED HERSELF TO BE INTRODUCED WITH THE USUAL SNIFF SNIFF. " IT MUST BE CHRISTMAS, FOR EVERYONE TO GET ALONG SO WELL" I THOUGHT TO MYSELF. ALL THE INTRODUCTIONS WENT WITHOUT INCIDENT. EVERYONE ACCEPTED HER WITHOUT A SPIT, HISS, OR A GROWL.

IT WAS GETTING LATE AND ALL I COULD DO WAS DONE. I TOLD HER THE RULES OF THE
HOUSE AND MADE HER A BED NEAR MINE. IT WASN'T LONG BEFORE I WAS FAST ASLEEP. I RECALLED THE NEXT DAY, THAT IT WAS A GOOD SLEEP. IF I DREAMED, I COULDN'T
REMEMBER. UPON WAKING, I LOOKED FOR MY NEWLY FOUND FRIEND IN THE BED THAT I HAD MADE FOR HER, BUT SHE WASN'T THERE. I CLIMBED OUT FROM UNDER THE WARMTH AND HEADED FOR THE COFFEE POT AND REALIZED THE IT'S CHRISTMAS MORNING. I CHANGED THE DIRECTION THAT I WAS HEADING, TO THE CENTERPIECE OF THE HOLIDAYS, THE CHRISTMAS TREE. MY TREE. MY CAT-PROOF CHRISTMAS TREE.

ROUNDING THE CORNER, A SMILE CAME UPON MY FACE. I COULD SEE THAT ON EVERY RUNG OF THE LADDER, ONE OF MY CATS WERE SITTING. THEY ALL LOOKED AT ME AT THE SAME TIME, ALMOST AS IF IT WAS REHEARSED. THEN THEY ALL LOOKED AWAY. I COULD SEE THAT THEY WERE LOOKING AT SOMETHING UNDER THE TREE. SLOWLY I WALKED CLOSER TO SEE WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING AT. AMONG THE PRESENTS WAS MY NEW FRIEND AND SHE WASN'T ALONE. SHE WAS CLEANING HER NEWLY BORN KITTENS.

THERE WAS NO WAY OF RETRIEVING ANY PACKAGE FROM UNDER MY CHRISTMAS LADDER WITHOUT DISTURBING HER. BUT THAT WAS OK. I HAD TWO PRESENTS THAT WERE VERY SPECIAL TO ME. THE KITTENS WERE NAMED SANTA AND CLAWS, AND I BLESSED MY NEWLY FOUND FRIEND WITH THE NAME OF NOEL.

From One Rescuer To Another

FROM ONE RESCUER TO ANOTHER

We know, you and I, about these things
Things that cause us grief
We have witnessed the cruelty, torture, and abuse
Where even death would be a relief

We are of two bodies, but we share a place
In our hearts for all to see.
For we are two who truly care
And we do our best you and me.

We talk to others but they won’t hear
Their hearts are not willing to learn
They turn away and hide their eyes
“That upsets me.” “That makes my stomach turn.”

If only they’d listen. If only they’d see
Then they’d help fight the abuse
And the things that torture you and me
The torture and neglect. There’s no excuse

For the cruelty is real. It won’t go away
Til many stand up to fight
And animals will die needlessly every day
If there’s no one to defend their rights

So we’ll keep doing whatever we can
To open the eyes of a few
Who don’t turn their heads and hide their eyes
From the things so important to me and you

And maybe someday, if we continue to work,
The rest will finally see
And stand with us in the battle we fight
To end animal cruelty

PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST

Please enjoy this true story, a letter to the editor, written by my good friend Debby Lebby, Assistant Director of the Williamson County Animal Control, Franklin, TN.

WCAC is one of those few "good" county shelters in TN that try very very hard to place their adoptable animals instead of PTS. Debby works hard on "Meet Your Match", a program to match the right animal with the potential adopter.

She also started years ago a Meals on Wheels program for our senior and infirm members of the community, sending free dog and cat food (and even bird food!) to those citizens who are on the human Meals on Wheels program and have pets that need food too. She found that the humans were sharing their own meals with their pets. Today, volunteers help pack ziplock bags of donated dog and cat food to be delivered to their owners.

I am proud to call Debby my friend! Thanks Debby for sharing this neat true story with us!

Stray dog brings comfort to mom at funeral

To the Editor:

Sadly, in December, many people decide to bring in stray animals that have appeared on their doorstep. Many keep the stray a week or so, thinking it will find their way back home. But then we receive calls to pick up animals that have continued to stay at people's houses.

Several owners surrender animals to the shelter. Maybe they have company coming or are traveling for the holidays. It makes our workers sad to see all these animals come to the shelter, just in time for the holidays.

On a snowy day in December 1998, one of our animal control officers received a call to pick up a big white Great Pyrenees that had been "hanging around" a farmer's house for a couple of weeks.

Great Pyrenees are working dogs that have instinctual qualities to protect sheep, goats and other livestock from predators. Their loyalty and sense of protection for their "flock" is amazing. The farmer claimed the dog came as a stray, was quite a nice fellow but had no interest in being a working dog. The farmer had been calling the dog "Jake" and hoped we could find him a good home.

When John, our officer, arrived at the farmer's property deep in the Williamson County hills, he found a very large, friendly, snow white and furry Great Pyrenees. Just as John started to slip the leash around Jake's neck, Jake took off running up a hillside into a small family cemetery as if he was on an important mission. John trudged up the hill where the tidy little family cemetery was situated. Jake, of course was faster. John suddenly noticed there was a graveside service in progress. Jake plowed through the cemetery gate with the vigor of a young pup. John noticed that Jake ran over to a lady seated by the casket, lay beside her and proudly rested his snout on her foot.
Our officer was embarrassed about the situation and began calling softly, "Jake, come here boy, let's go for a ride!"

The bereaved woman, looking confused, said, "What did you call the dog?" John replied, "His name is Jake, and I am here to take him to the animal shelter. He has been lost for a couple of weeks. Please forgive this intrusion."

With tears rolling down her face, she said, "We are here today to bury our 22-year-old son. His name was Jake."

John's face was as white as the dog's fur, and he was speechless. The lady then said, "I think this boy is going to go home with us today, that is, if it's OK with you."

John just nodded his head and tried to regain his footing — and composure — and returned to his truck. Jake looked back at him as if to say, "See, I knew where I was going!"

That cold winter day, the big, white dog and his quest to find a home led him to a family who needed him as much as he needed them. This Christmas miracle will always remain in our hearts.

IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!!!

Hola Y'all!!!

Mom and Dad put colored lights up on the house!!!! And there's a TREE in the screened room with all kinds of decorations on it!!!

Mom and Aunt Jane went to Grecia a couple of weeks ago and Mom came back with a BIG BLACK BAG!!!!! Y'know what that means??? It means she's been to see SANTA CLAUSE!! I'm one of Santa's favorite perros y'know!! I even got to sit on his lap a few years ago!!

Y'see, Santa lives in Grecia in the ropa americano store!!! That's a store that sells used clothes and stuffed toys from the US!! Goodwill sells them to Costa Rica by the pound!!

When Christmas comes around Santa goes there and stays until Mom comes and gets LOTS of toys for us perros!!!!!!! All kinds of stuffed toys that we can play with and tear up and sleep with.

Mom says it gets kinda crowded in our bed at Christmas time cause we all want to take our OWN toy to bed with us. Since there's between 7 and 10 dogs in my bed, AND Mom, all the stuffed toys kinda make it like a big pile of real fur and fake fur!!!!! 'Cept for Mom of course. She ain't really furry 'cept for on her head.

Anyway, the toys are hidden somewhere in the house and Mom and Dad will probably put them under the tree pretty soon!! They'll put treats under there too cause we can always smell 'em!!!

Y'all keep voting ok? There's only FOUR DAYS LEFT til the voting ends!!!!!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!!!

Man!!! I sure hope I get a toy with a squeaker in it!!!

MOM GOT DAWG BIT!!!!!

Hola Y'all!!!!

That's our Milana in the photo. Cute ain't she?

Things are pretty calm here now but the last couple of days were pretty crazy!!

Aunt Jane came up the Friday and we all got baths!!! And yesterday a young girl, who comes up now and then to volunteer, called and wanted to come up. She and Mom brushed us, cleaned all our teeth, cut our nails and trimmed our furry feet. And we introduced Cookie and Candy to the rest of the Lighthouse Crew!!
Now we all have lovely soft fur, we smell good, have minty fresh breath, and neat feets!!!

Then last night some lady called and said her dog had chewed it's spay incision open and she could not find a vet. She had used a new vet in town and she said when they spayed her they couldn't find her uterus or ovaries!! Now her belly was open and no vets were available!!
She brought the little terrier dog up to Mom. Mom looked at it and it was COMPLETELY open!! The incision was too low on the belly so Mom thinks maybe the new "vet" just is maybe a little TOO new!!
Mom called our vet, Dr. Carvejal, and asked if he would stitch it up.

He told Mom he didn't have any of his stuff at his house so Mom said she'd bring everything he needed.

Mom gathered up suture kits, instruments, antibiotics, anesthesia, gauze pads, and all the other stuff he needed and everybody, including Dad, went to Docs' house.

The lady told Mom that the little dog goes CRAZY even when she gets a vaccination so Mom was holding her pretty securely when Doc gave her the "go to sleep" shot.

That little dog went NUTSO KOOKOO!!!!!! It bit Mom in four places before the shot was done and she could let the dog go!!!!!!!!!

While the owner was wiping blood off Mom Mom explained to her that the dog has very tough skin and that is why shots hurt her so bad.

Anyway, Doc got her (the dog) all sewed up and everybody went back home.

Mom called the lady this morning and she says the little dog is ok. OH!! And Mom's ok too. She says she has been bit a LOT worse.

Anyway, that is what's been happening here.

Well, I gotta make my rounds and see if everybody is behavin'. I'll write again when me and Mom get a chance.

Little Orphan Lucky

Thought you guys might like to see a photo we took today of little Lucky. The orphan pup we have here. Her mom and 7 siblings died while the mama was trying to give birth. Little Lucky is the only survivor. She's growing like a weed and seems to be doing well health wise.
We had a dumped mama dog here who graciously adopted Little Lucky as her own and is raising her on Mama milk!!!
She's a cutie isn't she?

Chasin' the Dobie!!!

Hola Y'all!!!

First things first!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL for voting for us at the animalrescuesite. We're still in first place thanks to all of you who are voting every day!!! YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just GOTTA tell you about what happened to my two legged, human brother, Bud, the other day!!! Ya have to just picture this happening.

Bud is living in San Ramon, out in the country. Somebody was looking for a home for their dobie and Bud has been wanting a dog!
Anyway, now he has a GORGEOUS female dobie named Poas. (She's named after a volcano here in Costa Rica)

Well the other day Poas decided to make a run up the road. She takes off and Bud has to go chase her. She thinks it's GREAT fun but Bud don't enjoy it nearly as much as Poas does!!

Poas is pretty fast but Bud is pretty fast too so he usually catches her before she can get too far. But this time she got a head start!!!!!!!

She runs, as fast as she can, up the road and straight to a neighbors house with Bud hot on her heels!!

Now everyone here in Costa Rica keeps their doors and windows open most of the time. It's just that kind of climate!! The weather is usually perfect so........

Anyway, Bud's maybe two seconds behind Poas and she goes runnin' IN THE FRONT DOOR OF THE NEIGHBORS HOUSE!!!...through the living room...through the kitchen...and out the back door into the back yard!!!!

Bud goes runnin' in right behind her and chases her through the house and out the back door.

As he runs through the front door he realizes he is "invading" someone's home and quickly yells, "My dog!" He gets a quick glimpse of the entire family standing on their couch with bulging eyeballs!!!!

When he reaches the back yard Poas has a chicken pinned to the ground with her foot. He yells "POAS NO!!!!" and she releases it!! Chicken jumps up and takes off unharmed.
He grabs Poas' collar and heads back through the house.....where the family is STILL standing on the couch!!!!

He stops to apologize for the rude intrusion and the family all start jabbering away in spanish asking if the dog will bite them.

Bud told them "No" and stayed long enough to allow each of them to pet her and see what a good dog she is. He introduces himself to the family and tells them he is their new neighbor.

Mom says she is sure the family was thinking, "Gringo loco." WMFWB!!!!!!

Keep voting until Dec. 20th ok? We sure would appreciate it!! Just go to

We take animals from the streets and from abusive and neglectful homes. The animals are brought back to health, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and made available for adoption.
We are always in need of donations of food, towels, pet shampoos, medical supplies, bedding for the animals, and of course money.

Winning this international grant would be a real blessing for the animals we care for. The grant for an international shelter is $1,000.00.

It would purchase food for 6 to 8 months!!

What's New At Lighthouse

Hola Y'all!!!

There's been lot's of stuff happening here at Lighthouse so me n' Mom thought we'd sit down and catch everybody up.

First things first. We need prayers and healing thoughts for Dad. He's not been feelin' real good. And Juliette is not feelin' good either so she needs 'em too!!

I think maybe I already told y’all about the little Mama dog somebody dumped out on the road right before she had her puppies. She was pretty skinny and didn’t have any milk for her 1 day old puppies so Mom started makin’ her better and now she is REAL healthy and her puppies are all fat and sassy!!

They will all be ready to go to new homes in about a week!!! And Bingo is still here so we have six furbabies who need homes!!

OH!!! Wait’ll I tell you what Mom and Dad and our vet did to us the other night!!

Dr. Solano works in his office until 8:00 at night. So after he closed up shop he came up here to our house about 9:00.

Doc and Mom went in the clinic room and started movin’ stuff around. When they got ready Dad took each one of us perros into the clinic room and Mom and Doc stuck needles in us and sucked out our BLOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then they would drip the blood into these little plastic thingys and add a few drops of some blue stuff!!! Mom would take the blood mix and pour it into these white plastic things. She would watch it for a minute and then put her thumb on one end and make it go SNAP!!!!!

She and doc kept watchin’ the white plastic things real close and then they’d grin and look real happy!! I thought maybe they were turnin’ into vampires or mad scientists or somethin’.

Mom held me up and let me look at the white thing MY blood was in and said, “Look BudBud!! Negative!!” I dunno WHAT she was talkin’ about!!!!

She said somethin’ about “tests” and heart worms, and ehrlichia and lyme disease and nasty stuff like that. Then she said we “passed with flyin’ colors” but I still don’t know what it was all about. All I know is they stuck us with needles.

Anyway, they did that to 16 of us but they didn’t do it to the puppies. I guess it is an “adults only” kind of thing!!

Mom got a pretty good photo of a wild Amazon parrot that landed in our tree the other day. He just sat there for a long time. Mom went down to the tree and tried to talk to him but he just ignored her.

It’s rainy season here so we are getting’ lots of rain and thunder storms. We can see ‘em comin’ across the valley!! Us perros HATE thunder y’know. It’s scary!!! So Mom just sings to us and makes us feel better while the storm is goin’ on.
Laika hides in the pantry when a storm happens. She’s pretty big but she manages to get in there!!

WMFWB!!!!!!! Mom had a bottle of salsa that had a little Panama hat on the lid. When she finished the bottle she took the hat off of it and put it on Milana and Andre and took pictures. They weren’t very happy about it. They thought it made ‘em look goofy…but you know Mom. She does some goofy stuff anyway.

Me and Mom posted some of the pictures at my photo site. http://mrbudbud.shutterfly.com

The album name is “What’s New At Lighthouse”
Y’all go check it out and let me know what you think..ok? I’m not getting’ NEARLY enough emails!!

Anyway…..tailwags and snuggles til next time!!!

GOLD MINES AND CORN

Hola Y'all!!!!

Well our corn finally came in and we've all been working REALLY hard to get it picked, fixed, and put away in the freezer.

Course as usual I had to do MOST of the work.

Mom, Aunt Nell, and Aunt Jane helped out but you know how it is. Most of the really hard stuff falls on my shoulders.

It was me that had to organize the clean up crew. Me and the other perros had to stand by and clean up all the little pieces that went flying off outside the pans while they were cutting and scraping the ears of corn . Even Leona, the parrot helped!! Whew!!! What a JOB!!!!!

Anyway we got LOTS of corn in the freezer now and it sure is good!!!

My two legged brother and sister, Joray and Bud, took my ATV the other day and went to one of the old gold mines. It is just on the other hill from our house. It is shut down now but it is still real interesting to see. And Mom says there is probably still gold there!!

Mom says one day she will take me there and I can look for some gold. She tells me I could probably buy LOTS of treats with it!!!

Mom is posting the pics of the gold mine at my photo site www.mrbudbud.shutterfly.com along with some other shots of a sunset, fixin' the corn, and one of Larry, the new resident cat.

Enjoy the photos!!!

Aunt Nell and The Seatbelt

Hola Y'all!!

Mom's been laughing ever since she got home today. Us perros didn't get to go with her but she told us ALL about it....when she could catch her breath from laughing so hard.

She, Joray, and Aunt Nell went to San Jose today. Mom HATES to go there cause it is really confusing and she always gets lost. Lots of one way streets and stuff y'know. They were going to look at a washing machine that Aunt Nell wants to buy.

Well, due to bad directions, as Mom predicted, they got lost and ended up on a dead end street. The road they went in on was one way so they could not go back out the way they came!! They just kept ending up on dead end streets where construction was going on.

Mom and Aunt Nell were both a little agitated at this point. San Jose is NOT a good place to be lost.

Aunt Nell called the man who owns the washing machine to try to get directions.
She was going to get out of the car to look down the road that was under construction to see if she could give him any landmarks.

Here is where it starts getting funny.

Aunt Nells cars automatic seatbelt is broken so she is in the habit of just slipping the shoulder part over her head and exiting her car.

But MY cars seatbelts work like they are supposed to.

When she tried to get out of the car she just slipped the shoulder belt over her head and stepped partway out of the car.
WRONG!!!!!!!
The lap belt was still fastened!!! She reached back and undid the lap belt latch.
WRONG AGAIN!!
NOW the seatbelt is around her waist because she put the shoulder strap over her head.
Mom grabbed the camera and took a picture right quick.
Aunt Nell, Mom and Joray all were laughing so hard they could not breathe!!

Mom says that little episode, with all the laughing, relieved the tension of being lost and made everything better. They found the mans house and bought the washing machine and a few other items.

Now every time Mom thinks about the seatbelt thing she gets laughin' and can't stop.
Coca Cola flew out of her nose while ago!!! Us perros were AMAZED!!!

But that's ok with us perros. We LIKE hearing her laugh and we don't mind a little coke shower....oh....and she gives extra treats when she is in laugh mode.

Hope you guys had a good laugh today too. Mom says a good laugh is better than any medicine!!

Catching up!!

Hola Y'all!!!

I haven't written in a while cause Mom hasn't had time to sit down and do my typing for me.

We've got new furkids here and they keep us runnin'.

We uploaded some photos to my photo site so you folks could see what we're talkin' about in this message.

Little Bingo is still with us. He just got fixed a couple of weeks ago so now he is ready for a brand new family!!! He and little Milana have been playin' like CRAZY!!!
He LOVES the great big dog beds!! The other day the lady who helps Mom clean house was here and she stacked all the beds up in a pile. Well Bingo wanted to go to bed so he just jumped up into the toy basket and zonked out there!!!

Uncle Lance is down here visiting and Mom is REAL happy about that!!!

Mom went to Panama with Uncle Lance, Joray, and Aunt Jane. They had a really good time and saw lots of neat stuff.

Mom says the neatest thing they saw was a sloth IN A STORE!!!! They were shopping for some hardware for Dad and there was this woman walking around with a sloth hanging around her neck. Mom and Joray wanted to hold it so she just handed it over and went on about her shopping!!

There is a rescue shelter in Panama for wildlife and this lady helps out the shelter.

Sloths are VERY gentle animals and not at all aggressive. They move so slow that moss grows on them out in the woods!!!! How lazy is that????

Mom says they are cute though and REAL sweet!! She says ya don't even have to hold them!! They just clamp on and hang around your neck!!! Kinda like those toy monkeys with velcro paws!!
They sure do have some LONG FINGERNAILS!!!! But this kind had only two!!!

On the way home Mom saw one trying to cross the road and was afraid he wouldn't make it so she turned around and went back to get him and move him to the other side of the road. By the time she got back a truck had stopped and they were moving him!!
YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

They got a picture of a cemetery in Panama that is built on a hillside!! Mom says it is a beautiful place to be laid to rest.

They also saw a black squirrel!! We have them here in Costa Rica too but we haven't seen any here.

Our corn, cabbage, tomatoes, beans and stuff is growing like crazy!!! Mom got some green tomatoes off the plant the other day and fried them up with corn meal!! She REALLY loves those things!! I don't like them though.

We are getting lots of fruit off our cactus too!! It sure is strange looking!! It turns red on the cactus and when you cut into it it is REAL red and has lots of little black seeds!! Mom says it is really good. She won't let me taste it though cause she says it might not be good for perros.
The birds really go for it though!!!

Mom saw some Howler Monkeys down at the river yesterday and took some pictures. There were lots of them but Mom could only see one family. A mama, a daddy, and a baby. She got some pics of course!!

And we got a new little girl into the shelter the other day. She came complete with 4 brand new puppies!! Somebody threw her out, pregnant, on our road. The neighbors couldn't catch her at first but after she had her puppies one of Mom's animal kids caught her and brought her down. She is a cutie. Her name is Lisa. She was pretty skinny at first and she didn't have much milk for the puppies, but now she is better and the puppies are FAT!!!!!!!

Well, that's probably enough for now. Mom says I'm a chatter box and her fingers get tired trying to type everything I say.

Y'all go to www.mrbudbud.shutterfly.com to see the pics!! There's a couple of pretty sunsets on there too!!
OH!! And one pic of a couple of the rescue kittens who got adopted.

We Made A New Video!!

Hola Y'all!!!

Me and Mom added a new video to Youtube!! It shows the view from our back porch and some of us furbabies playin' in the yard!!

And we added music to it too!! The first song is Mom singing "Imagine That" and the second one is Mom and Aunt Elise singing "I Never Felt More Like Singing The Blues."
Aunt Elise and Mom used to work together in nightclubs. Mom just sings mostly to us perros nowadays.

Anyway, check out our video and let us know what you think!!

Hola Y'all!!!!

Finally got a few minutes to sit down with Mom and post another message!!

Me and Mom and Dad are growing our own food!!!!!!!!! Well....corn, beans, tomatoes, sweet peppers, lettuce, .....stuff like that. I didn't see 'em plantin' any cows so I guess beef isn't gonna be part of our crop.

It's growin' really fast!! Just click on the pics and they get bigger!!

Mom and Dad say we'll have enough beans for us and Aunt Nell and Aunt Jane. MAN!!!!!!!!!! That's a lot of beans!!!

And Miss Leona, the parrot from the earthquake, decided to get on the floor and take a walk through the dogs while Mom and Dad weren't home a few weeks back. We're not sure which perros were involved but Leona ended up with a naked back and butt. She is fine though and her feathers are all growing back real good!!!

Here's a pic of when they started growing back in and today. Sure looks like it would HURT!! I'm REAL glad us perros don't have feathers!!!

Mr. Bingo, the new kid, is finally out of quarantine and is "runnin' with the big dawgs!!"
He's a cutie. We're gonna find him a GREAT home!!
Here's a pic of him with us and Erika, the lady that helps Mom clean the house.

Okay!! Gotta go. Mom needs to get back to work on the computer. She's tryin' to track down some bad human who has been using my human sister's social security number.

Milana is SMART!!!!!!

HOLA Y'ALL!!!!!!

Me and Mom have been teaching our tiny little Milana a new command. She's learning to "leave it." She's kinda funny though. When Mom lays the treat in front of her, and tells her to leave it, she turns her head away and looks up like she's ignoring it!
Me and Mom video'd it. There's a link at the end of this post!!

We got a bunch of new beds yesterday and we all got to pick out the one we want!! Mom and Dad had them made from the leftover material from the slipcovers for the couch and loveseat.
I was just thinkin'....
(picture of me thinkin')

"HEY!!! WHERE'S MINE?!?!?! and then it dawned on me...."Oh!! I sleep with MOM!!!!"
And of course I'm MUCH too busy runnin' things to get any rest in the daytime like all these other lazy mutts.
These are in Mom's office.

Krystal and Andre wanted theirs in the bedroom.

We got a new kid in the other day. Mom named him "Bingo." He's a cutie.

Somebody just threw him away in the streets in Atenas. Sheeeeeesh!!! Humans. Ptooooey!!

We got a BUNCH of pigs ears from my Aunt in Florida!!! YUUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! And I got a new service dog vest too!! With GREAT patches!! And Mom got a vest she can use with adoptable dogs. It has patches that say "Adopt a shelter dog" and "Don't breed."

Be sure to check out Milana's video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpzdDggStoQ

Aunt Pat and Aunt Jane!!!

Hola Y'all!!!

GUESS WHAT!!!! Aunt Pat came to visit me all the way from Savannah Georgia and she brought Miss Tica Alisha with her!!
WAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAG!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Tica Alisha is nothing less than GORGEOUS!!!
We sure were glad to see them!! I just wish my girlfriend, Kit, could've come too!!!

We took some family portraits while Tica Alisha was here.

That's me in front and Tica Alisha behind me. Delilah is the big red one and Milana is the tiny red one!! Are we a handsome family or WHAT?????

Mom and Aunt Pat had a really good visit. Mom misses her like crazy. They're pretty good friends y'know.

Our Aunt Jane is coming to Costa Rica to LIVE!!!!!!!!!!
WAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAGWAG!!!!!!!!!!!!
We already got her an apartment and she will be arriving on the 4th of June!!!
Tommy is going to live with her!! She adopted him when she was here before and he's REAL anxious to see her again.

He sure is a moody guy. If he gets mad about something he pouts and won't eat. Mom has to pay him lot's of extra attention to get him back in a better mood!!

Sad news too.....Uncle Mike and Aunt Sharyn moved away. They moved to some other country. They just left today and are still in route. Mom just got a message from them saying all is going well. Flaca went with them of course.

We've had some new rescue kids come and go in the past few weeks. One was a little dog somebody dumped in front of our house. Dad named him "Jaws."

He's a happy little guy but he was pretty skinny. Mom cleaned him up, de-flead him, and de-wormed him. Now one of my doctors has him and is going to neuter him and find a home for him.

The kitten that came in the same day as Jaws is with the vet too!! Mom didn't get a photo of her but she was a real sweetie. Mom named her Pat.

OH!!! And the other kitten that was here got adopted and a few days later her brother got brought here too. So the same guy adopted him!!! Ain't it great when they can be together like that?

We finally got a new lady to help Mom keep the house clean. She comes two times a week and she LOVES dogs!!! Her name is Rosario. We haven't had anyone to help clean in months!

Mom always just cleaned the house herself but she says she is getting too old to climb under things to drag out tons of dog hair so she needs help.
Us perros try to hold onto our hair but somehow it just slips off. Mom threatens to shave us all every now and then!!
Can you just picture all of us long haired dogs BALD!!!!!!!!! WMFWB!!!!!!!!!!!

The rainy season has started so we get to play in the mud a lot. It's REAL fun where Dad planted flowers!! The dirt is all loose and it makes GREAT mud to dig in!!! Dad yells at us about digging up his flowers but Mom just tells him to plant the silly things in the FRONT yard!!

The perros and Leona had some problems three nights ago.
Leona is the Amazon Parrot Mom saved from the earthquake. Nobody ever claimed her so she lives here now. Three nights ago she jumped down off her cage while Mom and Dad weren't here and some of the perros started picking on her. They pulled a lot of the feathers out of her back. Her back and butt are NAKED now!!!

When Mom and Dad came home the living room was covered with feathers and they went screaming through the house looking for Leona. Mom found her on the glassed in porch and rushed her to the vet.
Dr. Solano did a lot of work with the parrots at the zoo so he knows birds pretty good. He told Mom that he thinks Leona will be fine. He gave her two shots and put some cream on her raw back and butt. Her wings are not broken and no bones in her body were broken. Mom says if we had been meaning to hurt her she would have been dead.

Mom says Leona is one tough ol' bird. Surviving an earthquake and now this.
Mom was pretty mad at the perros that night. She fussed at all of us LOUD!..and told us if it ever happened again she was going to pull all THEIR feathers out!!!!
I don't think we HAVE feathers but I'll betcha Mom can find something to pull out that hurts just as bad!!!
Mom knows I wasn't involved. I don't EVER bother new kids. Mom thinks it might have been Lluvia and Tommy. They're the most likely suspects.

Leona acts like nothing ever happened. When Mom got to her that night she just stepped up on Mom's hand like always and she is eating good and everything!! Mom and Dad have to put medicine on her back and butt once a day and she is getting antibiotics in her drinking water.

Y'all say a prayer for her ok?

Well...gotta go. Mom is getting ready to go out to eat to eat with Aunt Nell. Dad is getting his massage therapy tonight.

Tailwags til next time!!

Bein' Mom's Reminder

Hola Y'all!!!

Things have pretty much settled down now.
Bro seems to be doin' ok except he is still sore from the wreck.

Sis is still doin' her artwork and is turnin' out some really neat pictures.

Dad is looking into going into an internet business maybe.

Mom is concentrating on uploading photos to a stock photo sales site. She figures maybe she can sell some to help support us perros.

And of course my duties as Perro Primero have doubled. I'm tellin' ya I work harder than anyone in this house!!!

When Mom is workin' at the computer, or cleanin' house, or playin' with us perros, or whatever, the laundry buzzer growls and she just IGNORES it!!!

We all know that humans change their skins at least once a day and then they have to wash them.
Now anyone with a brain knows that you're supposed to RUN when the buzzer growls, take the skins out of that white metal box, and hang them on the line.

So as soon as the buzzer growls I run to Mom and tell her, "HEY MOM!!! The white box growled!!" Then I lead her out to the garage and supervise while she hangs the skins out.

If she ignores me I keep telling her til she finally gets the message and follows me out to the garage.

MAN!!! Humans sure can be dense sometimes y'know?
Sometimes I have to "whine" to get her to pay attention. Then I run toward the garage to show her what needs to be done.
My work is never done. sigh.................
She even video'd it so y'all could see me in action. You can see the video at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaqfhkdbDYU

I truly am the hardest working being in this house don'tcha think?

She uploaded some more photos to Bigstock today too. They sell stock photos to companies for advertising, greeting cards, and other stuff. Mom got a really good shot of Tommy doin' his yoga thing and she played around with it and made some cute stuff. She also uploaded some photos she took of the puppies a couple years ago.
So far she has uploaded 27 pictures and only 7 of them have been rejected!! That's a pretty good average I think!!

If ya wanna see 'em you can go to http://www.bigstockphoto.com/ and click on "Search Images".
Then click on "Show Advanced Options & Categories" (It's above the search box)and then type in BudBud in the photographer box and click "search." That should bring up Mom's photos.

Gotta go....I think I heard the white box growl.

Check out the video!!

Aunt Louise and Aunt Jane's visit

Hola Y’all!!!!!!

Aunt Louise and Aunt Jane left Thursday and we sure do miss ‘em. We all had a great time while they were here. Mom says they should just go home, re-pack their suitcases, and just head south again!!!

They brought us ALL KINDS OF STUFF for the shelter!!!!!!!!!!! You just wouldn’t believe it!! Medicines, blankets, towels, treats, ALL KINDS OF STUFF!!!!!! Me and Mom were THRILLED!!!!! All that stuff will help out a LOT here!! THANK YOU AUNT LOUISE AND AUNT JANE!!!!
And Mom says lots of you folks donated some of the money that bought all this stuff so THANK YOU TOO!!!!!!

Aunt Jane met a man and fell in love while she was here so she has decided to move down here to be with her man. His name is Tom and he is a REAL hunk!!! And he is such a HAPPY guy too!! Makes you feel good just to be around him. We’re putting a photo of him in my photo site too.

Aunt Louise talked about Uncle Ray all the time but I think she enjoyed bein’ here anyway. I bet Uncle Ray is jealous cause I got to love on Aunt Louise all the time while she was here!! Aunt Louise loved on me a lot and kept calling me the “FAMOUS BUDBUD!” (blush)

So Uncle ray, when you see all the pics remember I was an innocent bystander ok? I was too small to fight her off!!!

We all went shopping, sightseeing, out to eat, and just explorin’. We saw all kinds of wildlife and Aunt Jane got to see a lot of the animals that are in her field book guides. She sure was happy bout that!!!!

She got to see Iguanas, Jesus Christ Lizards, Buzzards, Monitor lizards, a squirrel, and all KINDS of other stuff!! Usually we have toucans flyin’ round the house all the time and she kept watchin’ for them but the winds were REALLY bad so we figure they stayed away because of that. Then!!! On her last day here, two toucans showed up in the tree out front!! MAN!!! Was she HAPPY!!!!!

I took Aunt Jane and Mom for a ride on MY ATV. We went down the mountain, on the cobblestone road, all the way to Desmonte!! I think Aunt Jane liked it even though we didn’t get to see any of the white faced monkeys this time.

Mom took Aunt Jane and Aunt Louise to see some of the outskirts of the earthquake area. Mom says the workers have done a LOT of work there and cleared back some of the mountainsides that were just hanging there ready to fall. The roads are still pretty bad though where the mud is washing down across what road is left. They drove through some pretty deep stuff.

Once, Aunt Louise, who was sitting in the back seat, asked "Can I close my eyes while we go through here?"
Mom said “SURE!!! I’ve got MINE closed too!!”
Ya gotta remember that Mom was drivin’. WMFWB!!!!!!!!!!! She loves to joke like that.

Where the refugee shelters are located, the winds have blown away the shelter tents they had for the people, so they moved the people into “containers” (that’s truck trailers that you ship things in)
Now they have built little wooden sheds for the people to live in. Some are built at the shelter itself and others have been built at the people houses if the house has been condemned. The sheds are about the size of one average bedroom and whole families are living in them.

While they were here we had two earthquakes. They were in Grecia when the first one hit and they didn’t feel it. But the one that hit that afternoon was stronger and Mom, Aunt Jane, and Aunt Louise made us all run out front real quick.
The amazon parrot, that Mom rescued from the first earthquake, jumped off her cage when it started shaking and was gonna walk out the front door. Her wings are clipped so she can’t fly, but I guess she figured...............
“Hey! I’m not stayin’ HERE!! I’ve been through this once already and was lost for three days! I may not be able to fly, but by golly I can walk!!!!”

After the earthquake Aunt Jane and Aunt Louise had to calm Mom down cause she was pretty shook up. She kept thinking about all she had seen in the first quake.

One day, when we were out shopping for souvenirs, Mom spotted an eskie face!! It was the clouds, reflected in a car windshield!!! She grabbed a photo of it right quick and we’re puttin’ it on my photo site to see if you guys can see it too!! Be sure to check it out. Mom is putting a link at the bottom of this post.

My human sister, Joray, and Aunt Nell went with us a few times too. We love it when that happened. And my human brother Bud got to eat and visit with us a lot too.
We got to see the WORLDS BIGGEST OX CART!! It’s even in some book about world records!! Guinness or something like that.

Mom and Aunt Jane went to the Friday street market where they sell all the fresh fruits and vegetables. Aunt Jane bought some veggies and fruits and stuff and cooked them all up!! She is GREAT cook!! Then she could take the leftovers and make FANTASTIC meals out of them!! Us perros only got to eat the LEFTOVER leftovers!!

We went to the indoor market one day too and I got to ride on Aunt Louise’s walker!!

They loved the view from the house and we all would sit around on the porch every morning looking at the valleys and in the evenings we would watch the sunsets.
They really liked my human sister’s artwork too!! They think her woodwork is fantastic.

One night while they were here we had something called a “dinner party.” Mom and Dad have a young buddy who wants to start his own catering business. He’s gonna go to people’s houses and cook their meals for them and their friends. He is a REALLY good chef. So Mom and Dad decided they would help him get started by letting him cook for all of us!!
We invited Aunt Sharyn, Uncle Tom and Aunt Kay, Bud and Maricruz, and Joray to eat with us that night too!! We had Curry Chicken, Rice, Vegetables, and then a dessert made from something called a crepe with cooked fruit in it and topped with strawberry sauce. MAN!!!!!!!!!! It sure smelled GOOD!!!

OK…Mom says enough for now. We have to go upload some photos to the photo site so Y’all can see what a good time we had!!
Remember you are ALL invited to come for a visit!!
Just go to www.mrbudbud.shutterfly.com to see all the pics!!!

We're Having Company!!!!

Hola Y'all!!!

GUESS WHAT!!!! Aunt Louise and Aunt Jane are coming to visit us all the way from the US!!!
Mom says they are rescue folks just like us so that means they're our kind of people. They're supposed to get here Tuesday and I get to go to the airport with Mom to pick them up!! I'm the official welcomer y'know. That's part of a Perro Primero's job.
Mom says they are bringing lots of supplies for the shelter so maybe they will bring some treats for us perros and gatos too!!!
I'm limbering up my tail real good so I can wag like crazy and Mom's gonna brush my teeth real good so they SPARKLE when I smile!!!

Kerry, (Zulu and Swazi's mom) was so sad about losing Zulu she decided to go back to Canada to be with her family. She hasn't been there in along time and losing Zulu made her realize how important family is. Mom gave Swazi some booties cause she didn't want his feet to get cold way up there in Canada. He was REALLY funny the first time he tried them on. Mom video'd it so y'all can see.
It's at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slThRVrke4M
Ya just gotta go watch it!! It's HILARIOUS!!!
All us other perros laughed at him and teased him.

We had a GREAT volunteer last week!! We haven't had one in a long time!!
Her name is Stina and she is real pretty for a human!!!

She is from some place called Sweden. Mom says that is a long ways away. She had to leave yesterday though but we're all hopin' she'll come back to see us someday.
She helped Mom give us all baths cause we had all gotten pretty dirty while Mom was so busy in the earthquake zone. I had to try to keep Milana clean. She is a sweetie and I always want her to look her best.

Y'all should see Tommy!! He is that really skinny kid Mom brought home back in November. He had given up and just didn't want to live anymore. Mom just kept forcing food and meds down him and doin' that subcutaneous fluids thing until he decided he wanted to live after all.
He looks GREAT!!! He lost a lot of weight while Mom was away so much after the earthquake. I guess he was just sad cause Mom wasn't here. He would go dig a hole in the yard and hide in it. When Mom would finally get home at night he wouldn't come when she called. She would have to go hunt him and love on him before he would come back to the house.
But now he is gettin' lots of lovin' and a big "puppy food" special snack every night and he is one happy dog!! He stands up on his back legs and dances when Mom says his name.

Me and Mom want to thank all of you who donated money to help us with the earthquake rescue. Finally we have gotten most all of the animals out. There were a few we couldn't catch though and Mom worries about them. But she says we gave it our all and that is all we can do. We all appreciate the help you folks gave us.

OK...gotta go help Mom bring the clothes in off the line. Will write more later!!!
